A bus driver from Sunderland has secured compensation after a car failed to give way at a junction and collided with the side of the bus he was driving in.
Unite Legal Services organised for the bus driver, Jason, to see a medical expert who said his neck pain would last for around one year. Private physiotherapy was organised for Jason which aided his recovery.
Unite Legal Services also ensured that Jason did not lose any earnings because of the accident.
Liability was not admitted and within a short period of time court proceedings were issued, resulting in the defendant putting forward settlement proposals which Jason was very happy to accept.
Jason said: “I want to thank Unite Legal Services for keeping my claim on track. I am very happy with the 100% compensation that I received.”
Karen Reay, North East Yorkshire and Humberside regional secretary of Unite the Union, said: “An accident that results in an injury is a horrible experience. By pursuing his claim through Unite Legal Services, he has received 100% of his compensation for an injury that he should never have suffered, and the defendant has rightfully been held solely to account.”
