Steven's story

I was really happy with the service provided by Unite Legal Services and I would definitely recommend it to other members.

Unite member, Steven*, was employed at an engineering company when he slipped on oil that had been leaking from a machine, which caused a knee injury.

Steven had not worked in the area for very long before his fall but it transpired that oil had in fact been leaking from the machine for years. His employer had placed mats at the side and back of the machine to try and soak up the oil, but had not repaired the fault.

Following Steven’s accident, cones were placed around the machine and a system was implemented whereby the area was mopped every day.

Steven contacted Unite Legal Services and a letter of claim was issued, which resulted in his employer’s insurer admitting liability for the accident.

Steven was paid in full pay during his period of sick leave and a settlement of £5,000 was secured for him.
